Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention Program

Based on the number of incarcerated women who have themselves been victims of domestic violence, the West Virginia Division of Corrections implemented the Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention Program. This program was developed to aid women with these histories in dealing with their own victimization as they work toward increased personal responsibility and accountability for the offenses they have themselves perpetrated. It is the goal of this group to provide victims of domestic violence the opportunity to learn about the effects of domestic violence and ways of breaking the cycle of violence.
